Anna Faris has fond memories of Matthew Perry.
The 47-year-old actress opens up about working alongside the late actor on the final season of Friends. Faris appeared in a four-episode arc as Erica, a woman giving birth to the twins Perry’s Chandler and Courteney Cox’s Monica would end up adopting, on the series in 2004.
“It was an honor and he was just an incredible person,” Faris tells People while promoting her latest project, My Spy The Eternal City. “I wish I knew him better. It feels a little audacious for me to speak too much about somebody that I felt like I had brief interactions with, but they were wonderful and I am honored to be a part of the show.”
Faris notes that she was of the understanding that Perry had suggested her for the role.
“He told me that he’d seen me in Lost in Translation and he thought I was good,” she shares.
“I worked mostly with Courteney and Matthew, and they were unbelievable to me. They were so kind,” she adds. “I mean, it was such an intimidating idea. I mean, to give birth on Friends. Friends? The final season?”
While the role was undoubtedly a huge opportunity, Faris jokes that it didn’t prove financially lucrative in the long run.
“They don’t rerun too much of the last season because I think I get a check for 9 cents every, you know, four months,” she cracked.
Perry died at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28 at the age of 54.
Just last month, Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow admitted that she has been re-watching the series in his honor.
“Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s OK,” Kudrow told The Hollywood Reporter. “And it’s just celebrating how hilarious he was — and that is what I want to remember [about him].”
Before that, Jennifer Aniston talked to ET in January about how fans can honor Perry’s legacy.
“Celebrate him,” she said, smiling in remembrance.
