Gotham’s Biggest Gangster is ready to make his debut. On Friday, Max debuted the latest teaser for The Penguin, the upcoming spinoff series starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, aka Oswald Cobblepot.
In the new teaser, Farrell, who stars in the titular role, reminisces about his childhood in a classic gangster monologue as footage of violence and gunfights in Gotham City’s seedy underground ramp up along with his story.
“When I was a kid, there was a gangster, real old-school type. Rex Calabrese. He was a big deal. He helped people. He saw you on the street, he’d call out to you,” Cobblepot narrates in the video. “When I was 14 or something, he has a heart attack and dies, still holding a cigar. In my neighborhood, they throw a parade in his honor. A friggin’ parade. It wasn’t fancy, but it was a gesture, a show of love, of what he meant. Can you imagine to be remembered like that?”
The tense teaser provides brief flashes of the stars joining Farrell in the DC series, including Cristin Milioti as Carmine Falcone’s daughter, Sofia, Michael Zegen as Carmine’s son, Alberto, and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, one of Gotham’s former top gangsters. The rest of the cast is comprised of Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau and David H. Holmes.

From Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, The Penguin is continuing the epic crime saga Matt Reeves began in 2022 with the release of Robert Pattinson‘s The Batman. The eight-episode series centers on the character Farrell played in the critically acclaimed film.
When ET spoke with Farrell last year, the actor talked about his massive transformation for the film.
“It was so fun to inhabit. I had such permission to just explore and create and use my imagination,” Farrell said of his prosthetics-heavy role. “It was one of the most fun gigs I’ve had.”
The Penguin will premiere on Max this fall.
