Today on Sky Sports Racing: Hollie Doyle heads for Newcastle with four chances | Racing News

Sky Sports Racing ambassador Hollie Doyle heads to Newcastle in search of more winners, with every race live from 4.30pm…

7.00 Newcastle – William Dewhirst bids to land the course four-timer

The feature of the evening looks like a cracking contest with a few in-form rivals seeking to end William Dewhirst’s winning sequence in the £30 In Free Bets With BetUK Handicap.

Last-time-out winner Paddy’s Day made-all on his recent win over course and distance but may struggle to dictate matters this time around with Leodis Dream and Match Play who also like to go forward. Reinforce disappointed last time out but could suit the step back down to five furlongs with top jockey Hollie Doyle booked – one of four chances for her on the night.

One that would benefit from a pace collapse would be Derek Shaw’s Popular Dream who finished with a rattle at Southwell to justify favouritism. He is up 3lb for that effort and will need to produce a career best to win this.

Preference is therefore with the red-hot William Dewhirst, who landed the course hat-trick last time to make it six wins at the track and will take all the beating here.

4.30 Newcastle – Midnight Lion looks to bounce back to form

Jim Goldie’s Midnight Lion was denied the hat-trick in a solid class 2 handicap on his most recent start. He drops back into calmer waters today and the form of his race on January 11 has worked out well with Urban Road winning a few days ago. He gets the vote to bounce back to form in this Gamble Responsibly At BetUK Handicap.

Charlie Johnston saddles previous course and distance winner Dreams Adozen who does come with risks attached and is 1-9 on the all-weather. He also has to put a very disappointing effort behind him although, this does not look the strongest of class 4 handicaps.

Hollie Doyle rides Zivaniya who was able to dictate matters from a slow pace at Kempton recently. It will be tough to reproduce that with a few here that will want to get on with things.

5.00 Newcastle – Hat-trick seeking Time Patrol headlines

Useful 7lb claimer Molly Gunn has a good relationship with Time Patrol, having steered him to victory on the last two occasions. The key to this one looks to be the cheekpieces which has allowed him to concentrate more in his racing. He does have a 5lb penalty to defy but he is terrific form and is capable of landing the hat-trick in this Free Bets With BetUK Bet Club Handicap.

Another worth consideration is Linda Perratt’s Pockley. He’s run at Newcastle 28 times, racking up a total of seven wins and could run well at his favoured track, despite the 4lb penalty.

Asadjumeirah is essentially back to his last winning mark of 45 if factoring in Alex Jary’s 5lb claim, which would give him a good chance and is an interesting move by trainer Antony Brittain.

Best of the rest

Tasever is in good form and looks well placed to get the job done in the 5.30pm Weekly Free Bets With BetMGM Extra Handicap. Warren Fentiman takes 7lbs off Patrick Morris’ charge, who goes to post alongside course winner Sir Maxi.

Legendary campaigner Brian The Snail is set for another outing in the 6.00pm £30 In Free Bets With BetUK Handicap. The horse, partnered here with Ryan Kavanagh, makes his 81st appearance on the racetrack, of which eight have been here at Gosforth Park. Beneficiary could go well here, stepping up in trip for Liam Bailey.

Elettaria could well be Paul Mulrennan’s best chance of a winner this evening. The six-year-old mare, who got up by a nose over course and distance when last seen, will have every chance in the Win £1M With BetMGM’s Golden Goals Handicap at 7.30pm.
