Ambulances with aid and gifts reach Ukraine

Three ambulances filled with Christmas gifts and medical supplies have arrived in Ukraine, having journeyed from Warwickshire.

The ambulances were sent by the Belveder community organisation, which is based in Leamington Spa, who have now delivered 61 ambulances filled with aid to Ukraine.

Belveder said the gifts and supplies would be distributed by the Sisters of St. Joseph, reaching children in orphanages and elderly residents in care homes.

Volunteer Harnek Singh said: “It was a great adventure, but above all, it felt meaningful to have done something to make a real difference. It was humbling to meet the soldiers who travelled from the front line to meet us.”

The vehicles were funded by LKQ Euro Car Parts, Gursewak Trust, and the Warwickshire Freemasons, while medical supplies were provided by the Ukraine Medical Charity.

The Leamington History Group, Kenilworth Lions and Lifestyle Gift Cards donated hundreds of chocolate gifts, Boden gave five boxes of new children’s clothing, and the Rotary Club of Warwick also donated £500.

A spokesperson for Belveder said: “A heartfelt thank you goes to our volunteer drivers, who dedicated their time and effort to transport the ambulances.

“In Leżajsk, eastern Poland, the drivers met with officers of the Ukrainian army, who received the vehicles and promptly set off for eastern Ukraine, where they will be used to save lives as quickly as possible.”

Belveder said the deliveries would not have been possible without the “incredible generosity and commitment of our partners, donors, and volunteers”.

The organisation’s projects include emergency aid deliveries, community food programmes, and cultural initiatives that strengthen solidarity and understanding.
