After back-to-back weekends impacted by an arctic assault, we’re finally starting to put the worst of the cold behind us. While today wasn’t the warmest, temperatures did climb above freezing for the first time in a couple of days, allowing for a very slow melting process to continue.
A much larger warm-up is on the way for tomorrow as temperatures ramp up quickly.
High temperatures in the 40s and 50s are expected to return just in time for Groundhog Day. In fact, it’s been nearly two weeks since we last reached 40 degrees. Expect mostly sunny skies, though a few afternoon clouds may develop.

Tuesday brings a brief hiccup in the overall warming trend. A shortwave system is expected to move across much of the Midwest, but recent model trends continue to shift the bulk of this activity farther east. Most of the Ozarks should stay dry, though a few of our easternmost counties could see a passing shower around midday.
The warming trend quickly resumes on the back half of the week, with temperatures returning to the upper 40s by Thursday. This weekend looks even better, with widespread 50s and a few spots potentially reaching the 60-degree mark.
Overall, the pattern looks very dry, with no major rain or snow chances expected this week.
