Huntsville nonprofit CEO trying to get home from Israel

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Lee Marshall, Kids to Love CEO, traveled to Israel on a ministry trip and is now struggling to return home.

Marshall said her group arrived on Thursday and was seeking shelter in bomb shelters by Saturday. News 19 first spoke with Marshall after the initial strikes on Saturday.

“We could hear some of the explosions from the resort where we were, and there was an alert system that would tell us when a missile had been fired, and that’s when we would go to a storm shelter,” Marshall said.

Marshall detailed that the group must travel to another country to try to fly back home since the airport in Tel Aviv is shut down, which is no easy journey.

“So we have been traveling by bus all day Monday in an effort to leave the country. We will be on a bus again all day tomorrow,” Marshall said. “It’s been very unnerving to be in a country in the middle of war.

The group’s exact location could not be shared due to safety concerns, but Marshall said she hopes to be back in Huntsville by Wednesday or Thursday.
