Israeli drone strikes kill security personnel, Basij militia members, says Iranian state media

At least ten people were killed in the strikes, according to IRGC-linked Fars News.

Several Iranian regime security personnel and Basij militia members were killed in a series of Israeli drone strikes on Tehran, according to a report from Iran International citing Iranian state media on Wednesday.

At least ten people were killed in what the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-linked Fars News Agency alleged were “terrorist” attacks.

The drone strikes targeted checkpoints, including those located at District 14 near the Mahallati Highway, District 15 across from the Hashemabad gas station, District 16 on Fadaiyan-e Islam Street, and District 1 at the end of Artesh Boulevard, said Iran International.

Residents reported explosions and exchanges of fire, according to Fars, with Iranian defense attempting to intercept incoming Israeli drones.

Fars cited an unnamed official who claimed the operations were carried out by the Mossad and “monarchist groups” attempting to infiltrate operatives and “carry out sabotage” inside Iran. No evidence was provided for his claims, according to Iran International.

Tehran residents have reported tightening security across the capital, with more checkpoints being implemented and nighttime patrols intensifying.

Some witnesses, according to Iran International, have said that Basij units are accompanying patrols, chanting slogans warning against civilian unrest.

IDF launches ‘wide-scale wave of strikes’

The IDF reported earlier on Wednesday a “wide-scale wave of strikes” on IRGC infrastructure across Iran, targeting sites in Tehran and other Islamic regime military strongholds throughout the country.

Several IRGC operatives were struck after entering a launch site in western Iran, shortly before they were set to launch drones towards Israel, reported the IDF.
