Nearly 60 wounded in northern Israel after Iranian missile barrage

MDA said that it has evacuated one person moderately wounded from shrapnel and 57 others mildly wounded by glass shards to nearby hospitals for further medical treatment.

Some 58 people were wounded after shrapnel fell in Israel following a third Iranian missile barrage targeted the country’s north on early Friday morning, Magen David Adom said in a statement.

MDA said that it has evacuated one person moderately wounded from shrapnel and 57 others mildly wounded by glass shards to nearby hospitals for further medical treatment.

“When we arrived at the scene, we saw damage to several homes and shattered glass,” MDA EMT Eran Abo said. “We saw a 34-year-old woman suffering from a back injury caused by shrapnel, and her condition is defined as moderate, as well as a 17-year-old girl who was mildly injured by broken glass.”

“We provided them with advanced medical treatment and evacuated them to the hospital. Additional MDA teams are currently at the scene treating several people suffering from anxiety symptoms.”

Medical personnel also evacuated an additional 15 people suffering from anxiety to the hospital.

Israel Police added that a building was damaged in the strike, and that “police from the Northern District and bomb disposal experts of the Israel Police are working at the scene.”

Regular and reserve forces of the Home Front Command are currently operating alongside emergency personnel at the scene of the strike, the IDF said early Friday morning.

A situational assessment was conducted at the site “in cooperation with emergency and rescue authorities, in order to clear the scene.”

The IDF added that the circumstances of the incident are under review.

Teenage girl hit by car, killed en route to bomb shelter

A 17-year-old girl was hit by a car and killed on her way to the shelter during a wave of rocket fire on Thursday evening.

During that same barrage, one projectile struck an open area in Israeli territory. There were no injuries or damage to property.

Additionally, local authorities reported shrapnel damage to the roof of a residential building in the West Bank. No injuries were reported.

This is a developing story.
