Russia is\u00a0unlikely to capture\u00a0Avdiivka\u00a0in the\u00a0coming<\/a>\u00a0weeks, as the main supply route remains under Ukrainian control and Ukraine\u2019s counterattacks are holding Russians back, the UK Defense Ministry said<\/a> on Twitter (X) on Jan. 27, citing\u00a0a\u00a0Defense Intelligence report.<\/p>\n Despite ongoing Russian offensives, which have\u00a0captured\u00a0villages like\u00a0Krokhmalne, in\u00a0KharkivOblast,\u00a0and\u00a0Vesele\u00a0near\u00a0Bakhmut,\u00a0such\u00a0gains are strategically insignificant. This represents a continuation of Russia\u2019s minor incremental gains\u00a0while\u00a0Ukraine focuses on active defense, the intelligence analysis said.<\/p>\n Despite horrendous losses there,\u00a0Avdiivka\u00a0remains a priority for\u00a0Russia.
