Abbott Elementary<\/em><\/a> is preparing to welcome some fresh faces in the new school year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On Monday, <\/span>Deadline <\/em><\/a>reported that <\/span>The Other Two<\/span><\/em> and\u00a0<\/span>Scream VI<\/span><\/em> star <\/span>Josh Segarra<\/a>, <\/span>Hacks <\/span><\/em>alum Kimia Behpoornia and <\/span>Never Have I Ever<\/span><\/em>‘s Benjamin Norris will all join the beloved ABC sitcom in recurring roles in the upcoming third season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The news was quickly confirmed by series creator and star\u00a0<\/span>Quinta Brunson<\/a>, who shared a screenshot of the article on her Instagram Story using Joe Budden’s song, “Pump It Up.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Additionally, Norris’ former boss, comedian, writer and actress <\/span>Mindy Kaling<\/a>\u00a0expressed her excitement at his new role in an Instagram Story of her own, congratulating the actor and heralding the casting news.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “omfg the dream combination @quintab @benanorris CANNOT WAIT !! @abbottelemabc,” <\/span>The Mindy Project<\/span><\/em> creator, 44, wrote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n According to the outlet, Segarra will portray Manny, Behpoornia will portray Emily and Norris will play Simon — three “good-natured” school district representatives who take pride in their jobs and\u00a0strive to freshen up the old ways of schooling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Segarra is coming off a hot year between the end of MAX’s <\/span>The Other Two<\/span><\/em> and his starring role in Apple TV+’s <\/span>The Big Door Prize<\/span><\/em>, as well as his role in <\/span>Scream VI<\/span><\/em> alongside Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For her part, Behpoornia recently wrapped production on Freeform’s <\/span>Good Trouble<\/span><\/em> and previously appeared in Hulu’s short-lived meta-comedy <\/span>Reboot <\/span><\/em>starring Keegan Michael-Key, Rebecca Bloom, Judy Greer and Paul Reiser.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Norris — who played the lovable but dense Trent in <\/span>Never Have I Ever<\/span><\/em> — ended his 2023 by lending his voice to <\/span>Academy<\/span><\/em>, a Wondery podcast series. He previously had roles in Paramount+’s <\/span>iCarly <\/span><\/em>reboot and NBC’s <\/span>Superstore<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n At the Golden Globes in early January, series stars Chris Perfetti and recent <\/span>Celebrity Jeopardy!<\/span><\/em> champion Lisa Ann Walter<\/span> talked with ET<\/a>\u00a0about season 3 having “so many great characters.”<\/span><\/p>\n “I will tell you this, the premiere episode of season 3 is so chock full of new, exciting stuff that you are not expecting that,” Walter, 60, teased. “I can’t even, we’re not allowed to say it obviously.
