{"id":20213,"date":"2024-02-15T10:20:16","date_gmt":"2024-02-15T15:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/world\/russia-sends-resupply-mission-to-international-space-station\/15\/02\/2024\/"},"modified":"2024-02-15T10:20:16","modified_gmt":"2024-02-15T15:20:16","slug":"russia-sends-resupply-mission-to-international-space-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/world\/russia-sends-resupply-mission-to-international-space-station\/15\/02\/2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia sends resupply mission to International Space Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span class=\"story_dl\">Feb. 15 (UPI) &#8212;<\/span> Russia launched an automated cargo supply spaceship to the International Space Station, with three tons of food and other items.<\/p>\n<p>A Soyuz-2.1a rocket launched the Progress MS-26 carrier ship into orbit early Thursday morning local time, Russia&#8217;s state-run news agency<a href=\"https:\/\/tass.com\/science\/1746653\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:TASS reported;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"> TASS reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Russia resupply spaceship is also delivering nearly 1,300 pounds of refueling propellant, 110 pounds of potable water and nearly 90 pounds of compressed nitrogen in cylinders.<\/p>\n<p>The space freighter<a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/russia-progress-87-cargo-launch-international-space-station\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:is expected to reach;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"> is expected to reach<\/a> the ISS on Saturday and dock with the Zvezda module after blasting off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Progress joins SpaceX&#8217;s Dragon and Northrop Grumman&#8217;s Cygnus as the only unmanned supply ships that transfer goods and experiments to the International Space Station. While the Progress and Cygnus were designed to burn up in the Earth&#8217;s atmosphere on returning, the Dragon is reusable.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 1, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Science_News\/2024\/02\/01\/Cygnus-International-Space-Station-cargo\/3471706808313\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Cygnus delivered 8,200 pounds;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Cygnus delivered 8,200 pounds<\/a> of supplies and science experiments to the International Space Station.
