Navalny, and then restored it, saying it had been mistakenly flagged by its automated security protocols.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\"><a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/02\/20\/world\/europe\/yulia-navalnaya-russia-navalny-wife.html\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Ms. Navalnaya<\/a> opened the account on Monday to announce that she would continue her husband\u2019s work advocating for a free, peaceful and democratic Russia in the wake of her husband\u2019s death in a remote Arctic prison. More than 90,000 users followed the account in its first 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">But on Tuesday, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yulia_navalnaya\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the account<\/a> and its activity suddenly disappeared, replaced by the words \u201cAccount suspended\u201d and a note that X \u2014 the social media company formerly known as Twitter \u2014 \u201csuspends accounts which violate the <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/support.twitter.com\/articles\/18311\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">X Rules<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cOur platform\u2019s defense mechanism against manipulation and spam mistakenly flagged @yulia_navalnaya as violating our rules,\u201d X\u2019s safety team wrote on the platform later on Tuesday. \u201cWe unsuspended the account as soon as we became aware of the error, and will be updating the defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Earlier in the day, Ms. Navalnaya wrote on the social network Telegram that \u201cTwitter has imposed restrictions on my account, which I opened yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cAccording to the Shadowban Test service, my tweets are not shown in searches, and if you enter my name in the search bar, my page is not recommended among recommendations,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">After the account was reinstated, tens of thousands of new followers were being added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The brief suspension came shortly after Mr. Navalny\u2019s mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, posted a video on YouTube addressed to President Vladimir V. Putin in which she demanded the release of her son\u2019s body.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cI ask you, Vladimir Putin, let me finally see my son,\u201d Ms. Navalnaya, 69, said while standing in front of the Arctic penal colony where Mr. Navalny was pronounced dead on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cFor a fifth day now, I have not been able to see him, they do not release his body to me, they do not even tell me where it is,\u201d she said. \u201cI demand that Aleksei\u2019s body be released immediately so that I can bury him in a humane way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Behind her, a fence topped with a coil of concertina wire marked the perimeter of the prison. The <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/yulia_navalnaya\/status\/1759912121985380411?s=20\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">video<\/a> also appears on Yulia Navalnaya\u2019s restored X account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Monday, a spokeswoman for Navalny\u2019s organization said investigators told Ms. Navalnaya that Mr. Navalny\u2019s body would not be released for at least two more weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Tuesday, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced it had placed Mr. Navalny\u2019s brother Oleg on a wanted list. Russia\u2019s state-owned news agency TASS, citing law enforcement agencies, said that a new criminal case has been opened against Oleg Navalny, without specifying which law or laws he has been accused of violating. However, the independent outlet Mediazona <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mediazzzona\/status\/1759949344545911187\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on X<\/a> that Oleg Navalny has been in the wanted database since 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Oleg Navalny was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in 2014 on charges of fraud.
