{"id":21499,"date":"2024-02-23T17:54:08","date_gmt":"2024-02-23T22:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/world\/721-members-of-indias-karbi-community-walk-on-stilts-for-world-record\/23\/02\/2024\/"},"modified":"2024-02-23T17:54:08","modified_gmt":"2024-02-23T22:54:08","slug":"721-members-of-indias-karbi-community-walk-on-stilts-for-world-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/world\/721-members-of-indias-karbi-community-walk-on-stilts-for-world-record\/23\/02\/2024\/","title":{"rendered":"721 members of India&#8217;s Karbi community walk on stilts for world record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span class=\"story_dl\">Feb. 23 (UPI) &#8212;<\/span> Members of the Karbi community in India broke a Guinness World Record when they formed a line of 721 people walking on stilts.<\/p>\n<p>The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council organized the record attempt during the 50th Karbi Youth Festival in Assam and the 721 stilt-walkers donned traditional garb and formed a line stretching 1.24 miles.<\/p>\n<p>The participants walked for 10 minutes to break the Guinness World Record for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guinnessworldrecords.com\/news\/commercial\/2024\/2\/indigenous-karbi-people-celebrate-their-culture-with-spectacular-stilt-walking-record-765073\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:longest moving line of people walking on stilts.;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">longest moving line of people walking on stilts.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stilt walking, also known as Kang Dong Dang, is a tradition with deep roots in the Kabri culture.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Breaking the Guinness World Records title for the longest moving line of people walking on stilts was not just about achieving a milestone; it was a celebration of our cultural heritage, unity, and resilience as a community,&#8221; Rajeshan Terang, ACS secretary for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, told GWR.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Through this remarkable feat, we have showcased the vibrancy and strength of the Karbi people, inspiring pride and unity among generations.
