Chris Gauthier, a prolific actor known for his roles in the television shows \u201cOnce Upon a Time\u201d and \u201cEureka,\u201d died on Friday. He was 48.<\/p>\n
Tristar Appearances\/Event Horizon Talent, which represented Mr. Gauthier, said in a statement that he died \u201cafter a brief illness.\u201d His representatives did not say where he died.<\/p>\n
Mr. Gauthier, who was born in Britain and grew up in Canada, had roles in more than 20 movies, including \u201cFreddy vs. Jason\u201d in 2003 and \u201cWatchmen\u201d in 2009. He also appeared in dozens of television shows, including \u201cSmallville,\u201d \u201cCharmed\u201d and \u201cA Series of Unfortunate Events,\u201d according to IMDb, and in several short films.<\/p>\n
He was best known for playing William Smee in \u201cOnce Upon A Time,\u201d a series that blended real life and fantasy in the fictional town of Storybrooke, Maine, where storybook characters live, trapped by an evil queen. Mr. Gauthier appeared in 14 episodes as Smee, who is based on the \u201cPeter Pan\u201d character Mr. Smee, Captain Hook\u2019s first mate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Mr. Gauthier also played Vincent, a cafe owner, on the science fiction TV series \u201cEureka.\u201d He appeared in 67 episodes of that show, from the pilot episode and through Season 5, according to IMDb.<\/p>\n
In an interview in 2021<\/a>, Mr. Gauthier said that he started acting in school plays and that he acted in amateur and professional theater during high school.<\/p>\n \u201cI was always a ham, trying to be a funny guy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
