{"id":2719,"date":"2023-10-17T10:40:18","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T14:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/sport\/mahomes-kelce-mcilroy-in-e200m-alpine-f1-investment\/17\/10\/2023\/"},"modified":"2023-10-17T10:40:18","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T14:40:18","slug":"mahomes-kelce-mcilroy-in-e200m-alpine-f1-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/sport\/mahomes-kelce-mcilroy-in-e200m-alpine-f1-investment\/17\/10\/2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahomes, Kelce, McIlroy in \u20ac200m Alpine F1 investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3139477\/patrick-mahomes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Patrick Mahomes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/15847\/travis-kelce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Travis Kelce<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/player\/_\/id\/3470\/rory-mcilroy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Rory McIlroy<\/a> are part of a group which has invested \u20ac200 million ($210,970m) in the Alpine Formula One team.<\/p>\n<p>In June this year the Renault Group confirmed it had sold a 24% stake in the Alpine grand prix team to a consortium of investors made up of Orto Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Efforts Investments &#8212; which included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/team\/_\/id\/352\/wrexham\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Wrexham FC<\/a> owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline inline-photo full\">\n<figure><picture><source data-srcset=\"https:\/\/a4.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2023%2F1017%2Fr1239495_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg&amp;w=570&amp;format=jpg, https:\/\/a4.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2023%2F1017%2Fr1239495_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg&amp;w=1140&amp;cquality=40&amp;format=jpg 2x\" media=\"(min-width: 376px)\"><source data-srcset=\"https:\/\/a4.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2023%2F1017%2Fr1239495_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg&amp;w=375, https:\/\/a4.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2023%2F1017%2Fr1239495_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg&amp;w=750&amp;cquality=40&amp;format=jpg 2x\" media=\"(max-width: 375px)\"><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/><\/source><\/source><\/picture><figcaption class=\"photoCaption\">Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have won two Super Bowls together with the Kansas City Chiefs.\u00a0<cite>Photo by David Eulitt\/Getty Images<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>On Tuesday, ahead of this week&#8217;s U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Orto Capital has announced a fresh injection of investors from a new group of big-name stars.<\/p>\n<p>This group includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/kc\/kansas-city-chiefs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> stars Mahomes and Kelce, four-time golf major champion McIlroy, Liverpool&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/soccer\/player\/_\/id\/223532\/trent-alexander-arnold\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/league\/_\/name\/FIFA.WORLD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">World Cup<\/a> winner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/player\/_\/id\/103025\/juan-mata\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Juan Mata<\/a> and former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua. Roger Ehrenberg, founder of Eberg Capital and investor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/mia\/miami-marlins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Miami Marlins<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/football\/team\/_\/id\/4771\/real-salt-lake\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Real Salt Lake<\/a>, is also included.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve always had a passion for all sports,&#8221; Mahomes said of the investment. &#8220;The opportunity to lead an investor group with Travis in Alpine F1 alongside Otro Capital was one I couldn&#8217;t pass up. It&#8217;s an exciting time for the sport and this is an opportunity to bring our shared values to the world stage. I&#8217;m looking forward to being a part of its growth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>McIlroy said: &#8220;Passion for excellence on the golf course has led me to admire the same pursuit in Formula 1. Partnering with Otro Capital in Alpine F1 is an exhilarating venture that unites my love for sports, competition, and the relentless drive to be the best.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Since Renault returned to Formula One in 2017 it has struggled to compete for wins and championships.
