Europe<\/a> that many experts consider a strategic play to deepen ideological rifts in the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Xi\u2019s first stop in France was met with a little resistance from French President Emmanuel Macron and EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, who both pressed him on China\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/eu-targets-chinese-evs-ahead-193014459.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:cheap green technology;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">cheap green technology<\/a> and its effect on European competition. The pair also grilled Xi on Beijing\u2019s continued support for Russia in its war in Ukraine. But experts agreed the invitation to France signals the EU is not prepared to completely cut ties with Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>Xi could be a little more forward during his stopovers in Serbia and Hungary \u2014 both are NATO-skeptical countries that favor stronger ties with China. As Xi reveals his true anti-NATO colors in Serbia and Hungary, his Paris visit may ultimately do little to influence the EU\u2019s general security position and push it closer to the US, she argued.
