{"id":29193,"date":"2024-05-15T10:41:05","date_gmt":"2024-05-15T14:41:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/entertainment\/death-becomes-her-musical-to-open-on-broadway-this-fall\/15\/05\/2024\/"},"modified":"2024-05-15T10:41:05","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T14:41:05","slug":"death-becomes-her-musical-to-open-on-broadway-this-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/entertainment\/death-becomes-her-musical-to-open-on-broadway-this-fall\/15\/05\/2024\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Death Becomes Her\u2019 Musical to Open on Broadway This Fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201c<a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/deathbecomesher.com\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Death Becomes Her<\/a>,\u201d a musical comedy based on the zany <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1992\/07\/31\/movies\/review-film-squeezing-the-humor-out-of-death.html?smid=url-share\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">1992 film<\/a> about two warring women who turn to a magical potion in their quests for eternal youth, will transfer to Broadway this fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The musical is now <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2024\/05\/02\/death-becomes-her-at-cadillac-palace-theatre\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in previews<\/a> at the Cadillac Palace Theater in Chicago, where it is scheduled to open on Sunday and to run until June 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The Broadway production is scheduled to begin previews on Oct. 23 and to open Nov. 21 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater, where a revival of \u201cSweeney Todd\u201d closed this month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The show stars two gifted musical theater comedians, Megan Hilty, best known for television\u2019s \u201cSmash,\u201d opposite Jennifer Simard, last seen on Broadway in \u201cOnce Upon a One More Time.\u201d They will play roles originated on film by Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The stage production will also feature Christopher Sieber (whose comedy chemistry with Simard was last seen on Broadway in the 2021 revival of \u201cCompany\u201d) as the man they both desire, and Michelle Williams (of Destiny\u2019s Child) as the potion purveyor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The \u201cDeath Becomes Her\u201d musical is being directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a Tony Award for choreographing \u201cNewsies\u201d;
