In a move sure to delight fans of ’90s comedy, Netflix has officially approved a sequel to the beloved film <\/span>Happy Gilmore<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During its upfront presentation to advertisers on Wednesday afternoon in New York City, the streamer announced the production of the new film. <\/span>Adam Sandler<\/a>, who both starred in and co-wrote Universal Pictures’\u00a0<\/span>Happy Gilmore<\/span><\/i>, confirmed his involvement in the project.<\/span><\/p>\n In the 1996 cult classic, Sandler portrays a hockey player grappling with anger management issues. Unexpectedly, he discovers his talent for golf and decides to join the golf tour circuit to save his grandmother’s house.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Along the way, he faces off against the arrogant pro, Shooter McGavin, portrayed by Christopher McDonald, in a series of comedic clashes. Julie Bowen and Carl Weathers also contributed to the film’s success as part of the supporting cast.<\/span><\/p>\n While Netflix has remained tight-lipped about specific details surrounding the sequel, including its storyline, writer, and director, fans’ anticipation is already running high.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For years, talk of a sequel has been rampant, especially after Sandler and McDonald said as much years ago.
