Working with George Miller was the most incredible experience I&#8217;ve ever had.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>Atlas<\/span><\/em><span> (Netflix &#8211; May 24)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/jennifer-lopez\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Jennifer Lopez<\/a><span> goes high-action in the upcoming futuristic sci-fi thriller. In the film, Lopez plays\u00a0Atlas Shepherd, a &#8220;brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of\u00a0artificial intelligence.&#8221; Her hatred of A.I. stems from being a first-hand witness to the destruction of a rogue humanoid A.I. known as Harlan (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/simu-liu\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Simu Liu<\/a><span>). When Harlan begins wreaking havoc on the world once again, Lopez demands to be on the case. However, in the fight to save humanity, she finds herself injured and stranded in a battle mech, reliant on an A.I. named Smith to keep her alive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The film, directed by\u00a0Brad Peyton, also stars\u00a0Sterling K. Brown, Mark Strong,\u00a0Lana Parrilla and Abraham Popoola.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>The Garfield Movie<\/span><\/em><span> (in theaters &#8211; May 24)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/chris-pratt\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Pratt<\/a><span> voices the infamous lasagna-loving feline in a new Garfield animated film. In the upcoming film, directed by Mark Dindal, Garfield reunites with his long-lost father, Vic (voiced by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/samuel-l-jackson\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Samuel L. Jackson<\/a><span>) and embarks on an epic outdoor adventure.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The film also features <\/span><em><span>What We Do in the Shadows <\/span><\/em><span>star Harvey Guill\u00e9n\u00a0as\u00a0Odie, Nicholas Hoult\u00a0as\u00a0Garfield and Odie&#8217;s owner Jon Arbuckle, as well as voice roles from Cecily Strong,\u00a0Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames,\u00a0Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, Janelle James and Snoop Dogg.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<hr\/>\n<h2><strong><u><span>JUNE<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><em><span>Bad Boys: Ride or Die<\/span><\/em><span> (in theaters &#8211; June 7)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/will-smith\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Will Smith<\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/martin-lawrence\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Lawrence<\/a><span> reteam for the latest installment in their buddy cop franchise, directed once again by\u00a0Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah &#8212; who took the reins from Michael Bay in 2020&#8217;s <\/span><em><span>Bad Boys For Life.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;It has the chance to be the best one of them all and everybody&#8217;s doing their thing,&#8221; Lawrence <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/martin-lawrence-gives-bad-boys-4-update-at-his-hollywood-walk-of-fame-ceremony-exclusive-203049\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">shared with ET<\/a><span> at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in April 2023. &#8220;We got a lot of the team back from the last one. Big Willie&#8217;s doing his thing as always and so focused and, yeah, it has the chance to be the biggest one.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The film &#8212; in theaters June 7 &#8212; will also feature returning stars like Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola N\u00fa\u00f1ez,\u00a0Jacob Scipio,\u00a0Joe Pantoliano, as well as Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Melanie Liburd, Tasha Smith, Tiffany Haddish and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>Hit Man<\/span><\/em><span> (Netflix &#8211; June 7)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/glen-powell\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Glen Powell<\/a><span> and director Richard Linklater co-wrote the script for their upcoming action comedy &#8212; which is based on a real story, and a\u00a02001\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Texas Monthly\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>magazine article of the same name by\u00a0Skip Hollandsworth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the film, Powell stars as\u00a0Gary Johnson, a tech whiz who becomes an undercover police officer tasked with impersonating hit men in order to arrest the people that hire him. Things are running smoothly until he falls for a woman (Adria Arjona) who wants him to kill her husband &#8212; and that husband actually ends up dead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>Hit Man,<\/span><\/em><span> out on Netflix on June 7, also stars Retta,\u00a0Austin Amelio, Sanjay Rao, Evan Holtzman, Molly Bernard and Mike Markoff.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>The Watchers<\/span><\/em><span> (in theaters &#8211; June 7)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>M. Night Shyamalan&#8217;s daughter,\u00a0Ishana Night Shyamalan, is following in his footsteps with her directorial debut, <\/span><em><span>The Watchers.<\/span><\/em><span> The horror film &#8212;\u00a0\u00a0based on the novel of the same name by A.\u00a0M. Shine &#8212; stars <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/dakota-fanning\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Dakota Fanning<\/a><span> as\u00a0Mina, a young artist who finds herself stranded in the woods in Western Ireland. When she finally finds shelter and other people &#8212; played by\u00a0Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan and Olwen Fou\u00e9r\u00e9 &#8212; she learns that they are being watched and stalked by mysterious creatures every night.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>I Used to Be Funny\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>(in theaters &#8211; June 7)\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>The debut film from writer-director Ally Pankiw, <\/span><em><span>I Used to Be Funny <\/span><\/em><span>centers on <\/span><em><span>Bottoms<\/span><\/em><span> star Rachel Sennott, who plays Sam, a stand-up comedian living in\u00a0Toronto. Sam&#8217;s struggles with both her career and her mental health are sent into a tailspin when a young girl she used to nanny for goes missing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The film, which debuted at SXSW last year, also stars\u00a0Olga Petsa, Sabrina Jalees, Caleb Hearon, Jason Jones, Dani Kind, Ennis Esmer,\u00a0Dan Beirne, Stephen Alexander, Hoodo Hersi and\u00a0Miguel Rivas.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>Inside Out 2<\/span><\/em><span> (in theaters &#8211; June 14)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>Hold on to all your feelings,\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Inside Out 2<\/span><\/em><span>\u00a0is back with even more emotion. June 21)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>The latest film from writer-director Jeff Nichols, <\/span><em><span>The Bikeriders<\/span><\/em><span> is based on the\u00a01968 book of the same name by Danny Lyons, following a motorcycle club in 1960-70s Chicago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/jodie-comer\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Jodie Comer&#8217;s<\/a><span> Kathy is a centerpiece of the story, as she narrates her love affair with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/austin-butler\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Austin Butler&#8217;s<\/a><span> Benny &#8212; which clashes at times with his devotion to the Vandals MC, and their leader, Johnny (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/tom-hardy\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Hardy<\/a><span>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>The Bikerider<\/span><\/em><span>s &#8212; which rides into theaters June 21 after premiering\u00a0at the Telluride Film Festival last August &#8212; also stars\u00a0Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, Norman Reedus, Boyd Holbrook, Damon Herriman, Beau Knapp, Emory Cohen, Karl Glusman, Toby Wallace\u00a0and Happy Anderson.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>Janet Planet<\/span><\/em><span> (in theaters &#8211; June 21)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>Pulitzer-winning playwright Annie Baker makes her feature directorial debut with the A24 film <\/span><em><span>Janet Planet <\/span><\/em><span>&#8212; an adult coming-of-age story centered\u00a0on Julianne Nicholson&#8217;s titular hippie, an acupuncturist with an 11-year-old daughter, Lacy (Zoe Ziegler), and the ups and downs of their summer in Massachusetts in 1991.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>Janet Planet<\/span><\/em><span> &#8212; which also is in theaters June 21 after premiering at Telluride &#8212; also stars\u00a0Sophie Okonedo,\u00a0Will Patton, Elias Koteas, Mary Shultz, Edie Moon Kearns, June Walker Grossman and Abby Harri.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>Kinds of Kindness<\/span><\/em><span> (in theaters &#8211; June 21)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>Director Yorgos Lanthimos assembled an impressive cast of A-list talent for his upcoming anthology film, which Fox Searchlight&#8217;s press release describes as &#8220;a triptych fable with segments following a man without choice who tries to take control of his life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing at sea has returned and seems to be a different person; and a woman who is determined to find a specific someone destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>Kinds of Kindness<\/span><\/em><span> &#8212; June 21 and Apple TV+ &#8211; June 28)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>Fresh off awards season for her celebrated performance in <\/span><em><span>Killers of the Flower Moon,<\/span><\/em><span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/lily-gladstone\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Lily Gladstone<\/a><span> takes on another harrowing native story in <\/span><em><span>Fancy Dance<\/span><\/em><span> &#8212; this time, however, the tale is set among the modern\u00a0Seneca\u2013Cayuga Nation in Oklahoma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In <\/span><em><span>Fancy Dance,<\/span><\/em><span> from native Seneca-Cayuga writer-director Erica Tremblay, Gladstone plays Jax, a native woman who takes in her niece, Roki (Isabel DeRoy-Olson), after her mother goes missing. Amid family pressures about the girl&#8217;s wellbeing, Jax and Roki set out to find their sister and mother in time for an upcoming powwow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The film premiered at Sundance last January, and will premiere in select theaters on June 21 and on Apple TV+ June 28.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>I Am: Celine Dion<\/span><\/em><span> (Prime Video &#8211; June 25)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/celine-dion\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Celine Dion<\/a><span> is getting candid about her life, career and ongoing health battle in a new documentary,<\/span><em><span> I Am: Celine Dion<\/span><\/em><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The film, directed by Irene Taylor, is\u00a0&#8220;an intimate exploration that takes viewers on a journey inside the\u00a055-year-old&#8217;s past and present as\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/celine-dion-diagnosed-with-rare-neurological-disease-called-stiff-person-syndrome-195674\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">she reveals her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS)<\/a><span>\u00a0and the lengths she has gone to continue performing for her beloved and loyal fans,&#8221; according to the official synopsis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,&#8221; Dion said in a press release for the film in January 2024. &#8220;As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realized how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans. During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>I Am: Celine Dion<\/span><\/em><span> premieres June 25 on Prime Video.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><em><span>Horizon: An American Saga &#8211; Chapter 1<\/span><\/em><span> (in theaters &#8211; June 28)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>A project more than 30 years in the making, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/kevin-costner\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Costner<\/a><span>\u00a0first started working on <\/span><em><span>Horizon<\/span><\/em><span> &#8212; a two-part epic focusing on the expansion of the American West during the Civil War &#8212; way back in 1988. The film stars <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/dakota-johnson\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Dakota Johnson<\/a><span> as a young woman taking a cab from JFK airport back to her apartment in Manhattan. Along the way, she talks to the cabbie &#8212; played by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/sean-penn\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sean Penn<\/a><span> &#8212; about life, love, loss and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Hopefully, the film is better received than Johnson&#8217;s recent foray into the world of comic adaptations,\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Madame Web<\/span><\/em><span>.
