How so?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m on the shyer and quirkier side. I\u2019m also not a murderer! Madison is also a little more strategic than I am \u2014 I don\u2019t make a lot of strategic decisions like \u201cOoh, this movie is going to make me into a star, and then I\u2019m going to do that movie\u201d \u2014 my brain doesn\u2019t function like that. Sometimes I wish it did.<\/p>\n

You have \u201c<\/strong>Blink Twice<\/a><\/strong>,\u201d Zo\u00eb Kravitz\u2019s directorial debut, coming up in August. You\u2019re in the Amazon Prime series <\/strong>\u201cCriminal.\u201d<\/a><\/strong> And you\u2019re starring in and executive produced \u201cLos Frikis,\u201d inspired by true events about teenagers who inject themselves with H.I.V. to escape the oppression of 1990s Cuba.<\/strong> Is there more?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Season 2 of \u201cAndor\u201d is coming out hopefully next year. I think people are going to freak when they see it. It\u2019s so much bigger, smarter \u2014 Tony [Gilroy, the showrunner] really outdid himself. And then I have \u201cEl Sombreron<\/a>,\u201d which is the first time I\u2019m going to be working with a Guatemalan director and filming in my home country \u2014 I\u2019m half Guatemalan, half Puerto Rican, and I feel very much half and half. There\u2019s a big debate on the internet over whether I\u2019m Puerto Rican or Guatemalan, and I\u2019m very much both. You live in a limbo when you\u2019re mixed. If I go home, they\u2019re like, \u201cYou\u2019re not 100 percent Guatemalan,\u201d and when I come here, they\u2019re like, \u201cYou\u2019re not American,\u201d even though I\u2019ve lived here a big chunk of my life. And then I go to Puerto Rico, where I was born, and they\u2019re like, \u201cBut are<\/em> you Puerto Rican?\u201d I\u2019m a little bit of everything. People need to leave me the [expletive] alone.<\/p>\n

What has it been like to be involved in a \u201cStar Wars\u201d series, with a fan base that scrutinizes even the tiniest details?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It definitely affects you \u2014 I\u2019m not going to lie \u2014 because you spend so much time creating something and then someone can bash it in three seconds. But I really try not to pay attention to it. I have no control over it.<\/p>\n

You were a dancer in middle school and high school. Would you ever want to return to the stage?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I really want to go! There\u2019s a theater opportunity in Miami I might do this fall; it\u2019s a one-woman show called \u201cThe Second Woman.\u201d The idea of being in a theater is just so beautiful. When I was studying at the Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute in New York and auditioning for theater, there weren\u2019t that many opportunities for Latin American actresses \u2014 Horton Foote or Tennessee Williams plays were all white women, and they weren\u2019t that open to hiring outside of that, at least when I was auditioning. Now, it\u2019s very different.<\/p>\n

What are your hobbies when you aren\u2019t acting?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I love boxing. I feel like I could be a contractor in my next life; I love fixing stuff, roofing, plastering walls. I\u2019m also picking up the guitar now that no one\u2019s telling me to! My dad is not happy \u2014 he\u2019s like, \u201cAre you kidding me, dude? I begged you to play when you were a kid, and now you want to play?\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
