No, not this time either. It\u2019s OK. I\u2019m feeling good.\u201d Then after completing the call he broke the receiver in two.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cSome of us are here to actually serve the American people,\u201d Day said angrily. \u201cAll I want to do is get Congress back to work so I can shut it down again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">An assistant (Heidi Gardner) offered him a new phone and introduced a visitor: Representative George Santos (Bowen Yang), who was holding a baby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Asked why he had the baby, Yang answered, \u201cNo one seems to know.\u201d He handed it to Gardner and said, \u201cJust put him in an Uber.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Offering his consolations to Day, Yang said, \u201cI want you to know I voted for you and \u2014 get this \u2014 so did Shoshanna Loggins.\u201d Day asked, \u201cWho\u2019s that?\u201d Yang responded, \u201cAlso me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Day asked him if he should try running for speaker one more time. \u201cWell, look, I would be lying if I said yes,\u201d Yang answered. \u201cSo, yes.\u201d Then he took a call on his cellphone that he said was from Tupac: \u201cGirl, I know,\u201d Yang said into his phone. \u201cJada is crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Day received a call from Representative Lauren Boebert (Chloe Fineman), who offered her support while a hand reached in from offscreen and groped her. \u201cAre you out somewhere?\u201d Day asked her. \u201cYeah,\u201d Fineman said, \u201cI gotta go. I\u2019m at the theater seeing \u2018Aladdin.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Finally, Day was visited in his office by former President Donald J. Trump (James Austin Johnson). \u201cYoo-hoo, is this the loser\u2019s office?\u201d Johnson asked as he knocked and entered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cYou endorsed me and then you kind of disappeared,\u201d Day told him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cYeah, well, that\u2019s because I prefer the Jordans who win, OK?\u201d Johnson said. \u201cLike the great Michael Jordan or the even greater Jordin Sparks. \u2018No Air,\u2019 remember that? Now that was a song. Tell me how I\u2019m supposed to breathe with no air? You can\u2019t. You can\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Johnson boasted he\u2019d make a great speaker himself if he weren\u2019t otherwise occupied. \u201cSadly, I\u2019ll be too busy campaigning, traveling from city to city, visiting their beautiful courtrooms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Day complained, \u201cI did exactly what you would do. If his comedy career doesn\u2019t work out, there\u2019s always rock music.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<h2 class=\"css-kypbrf eoo0vm40\" id=\"link-fd29bf3\">Weekend Update jokes of the week<\/h2>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Over at the Weekend Update desk, the anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che riffed on President Biden\u2019s diplomatic efforts during <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/news-event\/israel-hamas-gaza\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the Israel-Hamas War<\/a>, and Republicans\u2019 struggles to choose a new Speaker of the House.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Jost began:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"css-1ggt3fz etf134l0\">\n<p class=\"css-12wzsk6 evys1bk0\">In what many people are calling a high point of his term, President Biden gave multiple speeches this week in which he issued the same strong warning to anyone thinking about attacking Israel. I really like that Biden only needs one word to get his point across. He\u2019s basically the Groot of presidents. But to give you an idea of how effective \u201cDon\u2019t\u201d is, it\u2019s the same thing Biden says to his dog right before it bites another Secret Service agent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-12wzsk6 evys1bk0\">Also while he was in Israel, Biden said the Hamas attack was like \u201c15 9\/11s.\u201d OK, you can\u2019t go somewhere to calm people down and then start rating things in numbers of 9\/11s. That is not a calm scale. It would be like if your doctor gave you Ambien, and said, \u201cThis will make you sleepier than 20 Cosbys.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Che continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"css-1ggt3fz etf134l0\">\n<p class=\"css-12wzsk6 evys1bk0\">Jim Jordan, seen here describing how he attacks the nipple, is no longer the nominee for House speaker after Republicans dropped him Friday, which by the way he\u2019s used to because he was dropped a lot as a child.
