That makes it a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadandtrack.com\/car-culture\/a40166920\/we-asked-a-former-jewel-thief-about-his-ideal-getaway-car\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:poor choice of getaway car;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">poor choice of getaway car<\/a> when trying to evade police, as one Urus driver in Canada learned shortly before their arrest last week, according to police and to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/toronto.ctvnews.ca\/video-released-of-wild-police-car-chase-involving-white-lamborghini-north-of-toronto-1.6961914\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:CTVNews;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">CTVNews<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"caas-iframe-wrapper\" data-embed-anchor=\"df20b186-3073-53d3-af58-0b68671120d8\">\n<div class=\"caas-iframe youtube\" style=\"padding-bottom:56%\" data-type=\"youtube\">\n<blockquote data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4Cq_zL6yYQ4?v=4Cq_zL6yYQ4&amp;start=0\"><p><noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Two charged after Lamborghini travelling 200 km\/h on Hwy. 407 attempts to flee police\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4Cq_zL6yYQ4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Video released by Canada&#8217;s York Regional Police shows the pursuit starting on a highway before cutting to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadandtrack.com\/news\/a60592639\/lamborghini-urus-se-phev-revealed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:the Urus;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">the Urus<\/a> driving past a police truck on a cul-de-sac. According to police, the Lamborghini hit speeds of more than 124 miles per hour in the course of the chase. The Urus then hits what the department calls a &#8220;tire deflation device,&#8221; leading to damage before the driver returns to the highway. That leads to a big tire blowout, but the driver continues at a reported 85 mph for some distance after the hit, sending up showers of what appear to be sparks and debris as seen on the police helicopter&#8217;s infrared camera.<\/p>\n<p>In a portion of the chase not covered in the video, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yrp.ca\/en\/Modules\/News\/index.aspx?newsId=2a3ae229-1880-46e9-947a-ad44a5f5ba75\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:police say in a report released Friday;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">police say in a report released Friday<\/a> that the driver was briefly boxed in at an apartment complex before &#8220;purposely [driving] into marked cruisers&#8221; and escaping again, still with a flat tire. Helicopter footage then shows the driver and another car pulling into a parking lot, where the driver and a passenger are seen exiting the car to meet the driver of the other car. Police then swarm in, arresting the drivers of both cars.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Urus was charged with dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer, and failure to stop after an accident. A second driver was also charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon. That charge stems from the driver running over the foot of an officer while trying to escape before the arrest, an incident claimed in the police report that would have occurred between cuts in the video of the pursuit.
