{"id":34133,"date":"2024-07-29T14:15:31","date_gmt":"2024-07-29T18:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/entertainment\/josh-hartnett-shares-what-it-was-like-being-a-heartthrob-in-the-90s\/29\/07\/2024\/"},"modified":"2024-07-29T14:15:31","modified_gmt":"2024-07-29T18:15:31","slug":"josh-hartnett-shares-what-it-was-like-being-a-heartthrob-in-the-90s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/entertainment\/josh-hartnett-shares-what-it-was-like-being-a-heartthrob-in-the-90s\/29\/07\/2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Josh Hartnett Shares What It Was Like Being a Heartthrob In the &#8217;90s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/people\/josh-hartnett\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Hartnett<\/a><span> is no stranger to the term &#8220;heartthrob&#8221; &#8212; and he&#8217;s not shying away from it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the latest issue of <\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/entertainment\/a61648634\/josh-hartnett-trap-interview\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Men&#8217;s Health<\/a><\/em><span>, the 46-year-old actor looks back on the term that was connected to his name, as he rose to fame in the late &#8217;90s and early 2000s while starring in such films as <\/span><em><span>The Faculty<\/span><\/em><span>, <\/span><em><span>Halloween: H20<\/span><\/em><span> and <\/span><em><span>Black Hawk Down<\/span><\/em><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;I hope I&#8217;ve learned a lot since then,&#8221; he tells the magazine about the decades that have passed since he first hit the screen. &#8220;It was all just brand-new, very shiny and very interesting.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Still, he has no shame in being one of the &#8220;it boys&#8221; at the time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;I look back on it all fondly,&#8221; he says. &#8220;But I also see someone just trying to figure it out.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In June, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/josh-hartnett-shares-why-it-was-never-his-intention-to-be-a-heartthrob-227087\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Hartnett addressed the &#8220;heartthrob&#8221; title<\/a><span> in an interview with <\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/tv\/features\/josh-hartnett-heartthrob-black-mirror-trap-movie-1236029045\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Variety<\/a><\/em><span>, where he said that the attention had an impact on his career.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"shortcode shortcode-image content-in\"><figcaption class=\"content-in\"><span>Josh Hartnett talks about the term &#8216;heartthrob.&#8217;<\/span> &#8211; <span class=\"shortcode-image__credit\">Alberto Rodriguez\/WWD via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span>&#8220;It was never my intention to be a heartthrob,&#8221; he said at the time.\u00a0&#8220;It had an effect on me, in which I had to fight against it. I really wanted to be a serious actor. What I didn&#8217;t understand is that I was in an amazing position, working with terrific directors on terrific projects. For all intents and purposes, it didn&#8217;t matter how people viewed me in tabloids or whatever \u2014 as long as I was working within the industry. But I was too young to really understand that, to make the differentiation.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Today, Hartnett has made his quiet resurgence in film and TV as he has appeared in\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Oppenheimer<\/span><\/em><span>, <\/span><em><span>Black Mirror<\/span><\/em><span> and as the star of\u00a0\u00a0M. Night Shyamalan&#8217;s<\/span><em><span> Trap<\/span><\/em><span>. In the film, Hartnett plays a father (and serial killer) who takes his teenage daughter to see her favorite pop star in concert &#8212; and quickly realizes that it&#8217;s all a trap for police to catch him AKA, The Butcher.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"shortcode shortcode-image content-in\"><figcaption class=\"content-in\"><span>Josh Hartnett and his wife, Tamsin Egerton, are parents of four kids.<\/span> &#8211; <span class=\"shortcode-image__credit\">Cindy Ord\/WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span>While <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/interview-josh-hartnett-recalls-attending-taylor-swifts-eras-tour-with-his-kids-exclusive-229620\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">speaking to ET<\/a><span> at the film&#8217;s premiere in New York City last week, Hartnett says it&#8217;s a callback to the work he&#8217;s done before.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;This is a thriller, like a sort of throwback style &#8217;90s thriller that is looked at from the point of view of the antagonist,&#8221; he said. &#8220;&#8230; It was definitely a lot of fun to play this character. I wouldn&#8217;t want to play him every day. It&#8217;s more fun to always switch roles and try different things all the time. I&#8217;m always trying to subvert people&#8217;s expectations with the work that I&#8217;m doing. Hopefully, this will surprise you.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Like his character, Hartnett took two of his four children &#8212; whom he shares with wife\u00a0Tamsin Egerton &#8212; to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/taylor-swifts-3-night-london-eras-tour-stop-heres-every-celebrity-who-attended-227741\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Taylor Swift&#8217;s Eras Tour in London<\/a><span>. After having the experience at the show, Hartnett revealed to ET that Shyamalan&#8217;s over-the-top directing of the concert film was accurate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;I&#8217;d never been to [an Eras Tour show] before we shot the film, so I thought that what M. Night was directing the kids to do was a little over the top,&#8221; Hartnett told ET. &#8220;It&#8217;s not.
