The so-called Islamic State terror group has claimed responsibility for the deadly stabbing in Solingen, claiming that the culprit was a member of of the group and carried out the attack as “revenge for Muslims in Palestine and elsewhere,” according to a statement on the group’s mouthpiece Amak.<\/p>\n
The perpetrator of the attack remains at large, after stabbing three people at a festival in the city on Friday night and wounding eight.<\/p>\n
A major manhunt is under way, although police have not identified a suspect or released a clear description of the attacker.<\/p>\n
The attacker stabbed a number of people at a festival being held to celebrate the city’s 650th anniversary.<\/p>\n\n
