Ukraine is preparing for its third winter at war and further Russian attacks on its energy supply network.<\/p>\n
President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had met representatives from various ministries and the country’s energy suppliers to discuss measures to protect infrastructure.<\/p>\n
“The discussion covered all levels of energy infrastructure protection, including technical aspects, as well as electronic warfare and air defence,” Zelensky posted on the Telegram platform on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
“The Air Force will be involved,” Zelensky said about one part of the protective measures discussed.<\/p>\n
“We have also decided to strengthen our air defence along the front lines and the border,” the president added.<\/p>\n
In addition, plans have been drawn up to repair damage as quickly as possible and to decentralize energy suppliers.<\/p>\n
During the past two winters of war, the Russian military repeatedly attacked and severely damaged Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The loss of electricity and the associated water and heating supply during the coldest season put pressure on Ukraine’s civilian population.<\/p>\n
Since then, Ukraine has received massive foreign aid to rebuild its energy network and additional air-defence systems to protect it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
