Ransomhub is reportedly giving the government 10 days to pay an undisclosed sum or it will make public about 313 gigbytes of files.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/europe-ransomware-networks-taken-down-ae4753ecb57d24f4f127270ed41ad934\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Such hacking attacks usually involve penetrating government or corporate information systems;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Such hacking attacks usually involve penetrating government or corporate information systems<\/a> and either blocking access to sensitive files or threatening make them public through file \u201cdumps\u201d on the internet, unless a ransom is paid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Asked about the reported hacking at her morning press briefing, President Claudia Sheinbaum said, \u201cToday they are going to send me a report on the supposed hacking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Ransomhub claimed the office targeted in the attacks had government contracts, insurance and financial information. Known as the presidential legal counsel, the office handles many of the federal government&#8217;s non-criminal legal matters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">The sample of hacked files posted appears to be part of a government employee database with personal information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">It would not be the first time the office of Mexico\u2019s presidency has suffered a hack of sensitive information.
