But so many women have come forward.<\/strong><\/p>\n That\u2019s why it\u2019s done that way. Because that makes it much more believable. Even going on the assumption that maybe it is true, and I feel very bad that that could be the case, it\u2019s still Trump coming in and being a very humongous threat to a part of the Washington, D.C., culture that actually, in my view, needs to be completely wiped out. That\u2019s the priority I feel.<\/p>\n What drew you to this play?<\/strong><\/p>\n I know this sounds silly, but actors just like to work. I can do anything. So when something comes my way now it\u2019s like, thank you very much.<\/p>\n Had you heard of Susan Cabot before this?<\/strong><\/p>\n I had heard of \u201cThe Wasp Woman,\u201d although I never had seen it. For this, I watched it all the way through. It\u2019s pretty cheesy, but I wanted to make sure I knew who she was. She had a great face.<\/p>\n Do you think Susan Cabot is a tragic figure?<\/strong><\/p>\n Well, her son murdered her. That\u2019s tragic. That\u2019s at the top of the list. But her dad left her before her first birthday, and her mother was placed in an insane asylum. Show business might have been the thing that offered her any self-confidence. That was the one thing that had meaning for her. Maybe her career was the one moment where she might have felt like, I\u2019m somebody. There\u2019s a line in the script: \u201cI came from nothing. From less than nothing where people laughed at my dreams.\u201d So she\u2019s pretty messed up.<\/p>\n She didn\u2019t have the career she wanted.<\/strong><\/p>\n There\u2019s more than just her in this business who can say that. The way in for me, with every part, is I say: What am I going to learn by doing this? And is there anything about the role that I wouldn\u2019t want to deal with? There was a feeling with Susan that there was going to be some damage to deal with. But it is also an opportunity to purge whatever\u2019s there of your own. And when you purge something, it doesn\u2019t haunt you anymore. You cry yourself out, and you really don\u2019t need to cry anymore. You\u2019ve gone to that place of discomfort and it didn\u2019t kill you. I\u2019m still alive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
