Piers Corbyn, the brother of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, has pleaded not guilty to failing to move on when asked to do so by police at a protest outside the BBC’s headquarters in central London.<\/p>\n
Mr Corbyn, 77, who was a candidate for mayor of London in 2021, was involved in the pro-Palestine demonstration on 18 January.<\/p>\n
The Metropolitan Police had blocked plans by organisers to hold a march from Portland Place, near the BBC’s headquarters, because of its proximity to a synagogue.<\/p>\n
At a short hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Mr Corbyn spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address. He was granted unconditional bail and will face trial at the same court on 22 July.<\/p>\n
Mr Corbyn came 11th in the 2021 London mayoral election. Running for the anti-lockdown Let London Live party, he won 0.8% of the vote.<\/p>\n
