The South Korean police have summoned a Japanese woman for questioning after she was accused of kissing Jin, a member of the K-pop supergroup BTS, without consent during a public event last year.<\/p>\n
The Japanese woman, whose name was not revealed, was in a crowd of fans at the event in Seoul \u200blast June that celebrated Jin\u2019s discharge from the South Korean military after his mandatory 18 months of service<\/a>. Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin,\u200b was offering hugs to his fans when the Japanese woman abruptly kissed him on his\u200b cheek.<\/p>\n Video footage that went viral showed Jin looking uncomfortable when a couple of female fans tried to kiss him. Subsequently, someone filed a formal legal complaint on a government website, which the authorities can react to if they consider them worthy of investigation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The South Korean police have since identified a Japanese woman with the help of Japanese police, said the Songpa police station in southern Seoul.<\/p>\n If the \u200bwoman accepts the summons, she \u200bwill face questioning on possible charges of sexual harassment, the police station said. They didn\u2019t say what additional steps they might take if she did not oblige.<\/p>\n It did not provide personal details on the woman, but South Korean news media said the woman \u200bwas in her 50s \u200band bragged online about how her lips had touched Jin\u2019s \u201csoft\u201d skin.<\/p>\n \u200bHybe, the firm that created and manages the boy band, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n Despite historical disputes rooted in Japan\u2019s colonial rule of Korea in the early \u200b20th century, South Korea and Japan maintain \u200bbrisk tourist exchanges.
