After years of requesting a feudal Japan setting, Assassin\u2019s Creed Shadows<\/a><\/strong> finally gives fans of the franchise what they want. Ubisoft<\/a>\u2018s latest is out today, and like any big new release, a day-one patch is now available for players to download. However, the purpose of this particular update is a bit different than most.<\/p>\n As reported by IGN, the day-one Assassin\u2019s Creed Shadows update was quietly released today, making several changes, as well as some fixes to the new release. There are two specific changes in the patch that are interesting. The first is that \u201ccitizens without weapons no longer bleed when attacked, reducing unintended blood spill in temples\/shrines.\u201d The second is that \u201ctables and racks in temples\/shrines are now indestructible.\u201d<\/p>\n Although Ubisoft didn\u2019t specifically mention it to IGN, it seems these changes were made in response to concerns from Japanese politician Hiroyuki Kada, and Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba.<\/p>\n During a government conference meeting, Kada proposed a question regarding Assassin\u2019s Creed Shadows. Specifically about players potentially copying the acts in the game, like destroying a shrine.<\/p>\n \u201cI fear that allowing players to attack and destroy real-world locations in the game without permission could encourage similar behavior in real life,\u201d said Kada. \u201cShrine officials and local residents are also worried about this. Of course, freedom of expression must be respected, but acts that demean local cultures should be avoided.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHow to address this legally is something we need to discuss with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,\u201d responded Prime Minister Ishiba<\/p>\n \u201cDefacing a shrine is out of the question \u2013 it is an insult to the nation itself,\u201d Prime Minister Ishiba continued. \u201cWhen the Self-Defense Forces were deployed to Samawah, Iraq, we ensured they studied Islamic customs beforehand. Respecting the culture and religion of a country is fundamental, and we must make it clear that we will not simply accept acts that disregard them.\u201d<\/p>\n Assassin\u2019s Creed Shadows is out today for PS5<\/a>, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
