According to the website, the plane took off from Paris Orly airport at approximately 12 p.m., and returned to its gate at 2:37 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to the flight map, per FlightAware, the plane barely made it over the Atlantic Ocean,\u00a0looping off the west coast of the country before returning back. The flight once again took off at 4:13 p.m. and completed its journey to Pointe-a-Pitre, per the website. According to Air France\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/wwws.airfrance.fr\/en\/information\/bagages\/produits-interdits-et-reglementes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:electronics policy;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">electronics policy<\/a>, portable phones with fuel cells are only allowed in the \u201caircraft cabin\u201d and if they do not exceed 100 Wh\/battery they can also be placed in the hold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Most flights also require passengers to turn off their devices or put them on \u201cairplane mode\u201d\u00a0 during takeoff and landing as the cell phone signals could interfere with \u201ccritical aircraft instruments\u201d including its navigation and communication systems, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/travelers\/fly_safe\/information\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Federal Aviation Administration;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Federal Aviation Administration<\/a> (FAA).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">There were a total of 86 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/hazmat\/resources\/lithium_batteries\/incidents\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:cell phone incidents;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">cell phone incidents<\/a> involving smoke, fire or extreme heat on flights between March 2006 and February 2025, according to the FAA&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/passengers-flee-from-airport-bridge-in-china-after-power-bank-catches-fire-8733020\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Passengers Flee Smoke-Filled Jet Bridge After Power Bank in Carry-on Bursts Into Flames: WATCH;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Passengers Flee Smoke-Filled Jet Bridge After Power Bank in Carry-on Bursts Into Flames: WATCH<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">However, the largest number of these aviation electronic incidents are caused by battery packs. So far a total of 236 aviation incidents have occurred involving the lithium batteries in the devices between March 2006 and February 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Last year there were 85 aviation incidents recorded related to electronic devices heating up, and in 2025, there have been 6 incidents so far, per the FAA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Due to several incidents of portable chargers <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/passengers-flee-from-airport-bridge-in-china-after-power-bank-catches-fire-8733020\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:catching fire during flights;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">catching fire during flights<\/a>, Hong Kong&#8217;s Civil Aviation Department announced that it has banned the use of battery packs during a flight, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-03-25\/cathay-pacific-will-comply-with-stricter-rules-on-power-banks#:~:text=Hong%20Kong's%20Civil%20Aviation%20Department,causing%20fires%20on%20board%20aircraft.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Bloomberg;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Bloomberg<\/a>.
