Russian-born world No 12 Daria Kasatkina is switching allegiances to Australia after her application for permanent residency was accepted.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old has been critical of Russia’s restrictions and attitudes towards LGBT rights and strongly opposed the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

In a statement posted to her Instagram account on Friday, Kasatkina, a winner of eight singles titles, wrote: “I am delighted to let you all know that my application for permanent residency has been accepted by the Australian Government.<\/p>\n
