The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/travel\/2023\/10\/30\/milan-bans-late-night-food-and-drink-in-city-centre-after-noise-complaints-from-residents\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:vendors;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><strong>vendors<\/strong><\/a> have long been accused of harassment and alleged extortion by visitors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Businessman Naguib Sawiris, the founder of Orascom Telecom Holding and Orascom Investment Holding, wrote on X that sellers who refuse to move to the new zone area would be banned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe well-being of the public and preservation of this treasure is far more important than catering to the interests of 2,000 individuals who have caused harm to the country for years,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NaguibSawiris\/status\/1909868432243257687\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:posted;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><strong>posted<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">Pyramids of Giza adopt electric vehicles<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The new measures also prohibit private vehicles and tour buses from entering the plateau, instead providing visitors and their guides with eco-friendly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/next\/2025\/04\/15\/a-social-leasing-scheme-would-make-electric-cars-affordable-in-europe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:electric vehicles;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><strong>electric vehicles<\/strong><\/a> to get around the site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While the transition aims to improve the sustainability of the complex, some visitors have complained on social media about the availability of the vehicles, saying they\u2019ve been forced to wait or walk in the heat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Orascom issued a statement in response, stating that 45 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/green\/2025\/01\/03\/china-is-driving-an-electric-vehicle-revolution-but-is-it-good-news-for-the-climate\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:electric;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><strong>electric<\/strong><\/a> buses had been made available on the site and are scheduled to run every five minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The revamp will also see several tombs restored, the introduction of online ticketing and a new visitor centre.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">Visitors warned against animal tours at Pyramids of Giza<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Some hope that the relocation of tour vendors is also a step towards bringing an end to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/green\/2024\/04\/17\/reckless-and-cruel-octopus-farming-plans-must-be-stopped\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:animal cruelty;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><strong>animal cruelty<\/strong><\/a> reported at the site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A recent investigation by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) found instances of routine abuse and animals left to rot at the side of the road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><b class=\"c-widget-related__title__text\">Related<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cPETA has documented the routine punching, kicking, whipping, and starving of horses and camels at the pyramids,\u201d says PETA Asia Vice President Jason Baker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cAnimals are literally ridden to death and then dumped like rubbish outside the gate. The Pyramids of Giza should symbolise Egypt&#8217;s beauty and history &#8211; not unchecked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/green\/2025\/02\/04\/tiger-cubs-to-songbirds-huge-global-wildlife-trafficking-crackdown-sees-20000-live-animals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:animal abuse;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><strong>animal abuse<\/strong><\/a>.
