Harmonies blossom and more guitars (and Shelby Lynne on bass) eventually join, but the mood stays pristine.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"css-1u37br4 eoo0vm40\" id=\"link-3936407\">Wisin and Kapo, \u2018<a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8kOlebnrYvM\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luna<\/a>\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cLuna\u201d hits a very sweet spot between Afrobeats and reggaeton as Wisin, from Puerto Rico, and Kapo, from Colombia, harmonize on a friendly flirtation: \u201cJust you and me in this room on a trip to the moon.\u201d The production (by Daramola, a Nigerian musician based in Miami, and Los Legendarios, from Puerto Rico) is an ever-changing matrix of percussion sounds, electronics and vocal harmonies arriving from all directions. It\u2019s pure ear candy.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"css-1u37br4 eoo0vm40\" id=\"link-42113872\">Young Thug featuring Future, \u2018<a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W4aE8of2znM\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Money on Money<\/a>\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Young Thug ended his role in the longest trial in Georgia history, and two years in jail, in 2024 with guilty pleas and <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/11\/06\/arts\/music\/young-thug-probation.html\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">15 years of probation<\/a>. His first new single, after some guest spots, reclaims very familiar turf: a minor-key trap production, a longtime collaborator (Future) and boasts about money, sex and cars. Only a few lines \u2014 \u201cI been in the trenches filled with hyenas\u201d \u2014 hint at the hiatus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The English songwriter Emma-Jean Thackray probes unhealthy mental states with upbeat, jazzy grooves on her new album, \u201cWeirdo.\u201d In \u201cMaybe Nowhere,\u201d a sense of dissociation and futility \u2014 \u201cWhat if I stay? \/ No one was ever here anyway\u201d \u2014 leads her to contemplate oblivion: \u201cAre you beyond or maybe nowhere? \/ Maybe I\u2019ll join you in the beyond.\u201d She assembles a thick-chorded funk track around a rugged, distorted bass line, countering despair with craftsmanship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The genre-crunching English band Squid confronts book-burning and surveillance in \u201cThe Hearth and Circle Round Fire,\u201d a postscript to its furious album \u201cCowards.\u201d Distorted bass riffs, turntable scratching and sputtery drumming give way, briefly, to British brass-band stolidity.
