However, he is expected to make a better run this time out.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s draw, Raducanu has put aside her aversions to clay and mananged to earn some success &#8212; the highlight of which came at the Italian Open where she won three matches in a row on the surface for the first time in her career.<\/p>\n<p>She was stopped in her tracks in Rome by American <a data-player-guid=\"ca44c2b0-9dea-ab40-2541-b50a4442ff8e\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=3626\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Coco Gauff<\/a>, but she will be hoping to develop further at this week&#8217;s Strasbourg Open &#8212; the final event before the French Open.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, Katie Boulter managed just one win between Madrid and Rome &#8212; against world No. 64 <a data-player-guid=\"fe013c03-6a8a-a745-4e09-e2bc7adc74bc\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=2248\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Katerina Siniakova<\/a>. It was Alcaraz who took the title in Rome, winning the final in two sets. He is also the reigning champion at Roland Garros.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t look past Sinner, though. Rome marked the world No. 1&#8217;s return to tennis after a three-month ban over two positive doping tests in March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s draw, the bracket is a little more open.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a data-player-guid=\"0fe63041-889b-62ef-16ef-0a46542271f3\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=3730\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Iga Swiatek<\/a><\/strong> is seeking her fourth straight title at Roland Garros and her fifth in the past six years. However, she has been a level below her imperious best in recent weeks, notably suffering a shock third-round Italian Open defeat to American <a data-player-guid=\"8d3efbda-5347-cd97-4119-75e9af53204f\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=3262\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Danielle Collins<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The contenders to unseat Switaek are numerous. There&#8217;s American <strong><a data-player-guid=\"ca44c2b0-9dea-ab40-2541-b50a4442ff8e\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=3626\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Coco Gauff<\/a><\/strong>, who reached the final in both Madrid and Rome in recent weeks, although she lost each time to <strong><a data-player-guid=\"c91d133a-526a-ea8d-654c-7ef6915ad63b\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=3038\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Aryna Sabalenka<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a data-player-guid=\"1cb6cc14-00ad-6c8b-301e-aa8adc243503\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=2615\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jasmine Paolini<\/a><\/strong>, respectively.
