Travelers will cover roughly 1,500 miles across southern Africa over 15 days. No itinerary will be released in advance. Participants will be guided by one of Intrepid\u2019s most experienced leaders, traveling primarily by overland truck and staying in accommodations ranging from tents to locally owned hotels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The journey includes swimming in waterfalls, hiking up mountains and connecting with local people, with a focus on culture, history and regional cuisine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Two departures are scheduled: <strong>July 29<\/strong> and <strong>Aug. 12, 2026<\/strong>. The first trip will be reserved for returning Intrepid travelers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThis itinerary is intrepid in every sense of the word, and I am confident that this will be our best mystery trip yet,\u201d said Erica Kritikides, general manager of experiences at Intrepid Travel.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">A format built on curiosity<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Intrepid&#8217;s &#8220;Unchartered&#8221; trip concept was introduced in 2018, when the company ran two mystery trips through Kazakhstan, Russia\u2019s Altai region and Mongolia. Thirty-four travelers joined the departures, which received over 1,000 applications in 10 days. The first trip filled in 16 hours.
