The drone pilot who captured the footage told AFP it shows the Fagradalsfjall volcano near Iceland&#8217;s capital Reykjavik.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The Klyuchevskoy volcano in Russia is starting to erupt,&#8221; the highest active in Europe and Asia &#8212; erupted on July 30, with lava seen flowing down its slopes (<a href=\"https:\/\/perma.cc\/4SJH-WUD4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:archived link;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">archived link<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Earlier that day, an 8.8-magnitude <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barrons.com\/news\/quake-off-russia-s-far-east-was-region-s-strongest-since-1952-3c39bd59\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:earthquake;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">earthquake<\/a> struck Russia&#8217;s far eastern Kamchatka region, triggering \u00a0tsunami alerts across parts of the Pacific coast (<a href=\"https:\/\/perma.cc\/23HR-VAVZ\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:archived link;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">archived link<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The circulating video, however, shows an eruption at a different volcano four years earlier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=linGPlWGcDw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:reverse image search;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">reverse image search<\/a> on Google using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bHNimjTpxd8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:keyframes;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">keyframes<\/a> from the falsely shared clip led to similar footage posted on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/vulkane.net\/posts\/8802675456437216\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Facebook;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Facebook<\/a> in November 2024, where it was captioned, &#8220;Boiling infernal lava pond in the crater pit of an Icelandic volcano&#8221;
