Eyal Zamir&#8217;s comments came amid ongoing discussions regarding how to prevent draft-dodging in Israel&#8217;s haredi (ultra-Orthodox) communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/zamir-delays-oct-7-report-194440621.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Eyal Zamir;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Eyal Zamir<\/a> called on &#8220;everyone to enlist and contribute their share equally&#8221; on Wednesday, referring to military service as a &#8220;civic duty and national imperative&#8221; that all must respond to.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We cannot accept a situation in which not all parts of society bear the burden. Israel&#8217;s security requires the full partnership of all parts of the nation,&#8221; Zamir said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This comes amid controversy over the government funding of haredi (ultra-Orthodox) draft dodgers&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/netanyahu-uman-decision-political-misstep-195838296.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:pilgrimage;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">pilgrimage<\/a> to Uman, Ukraine, for Rosh Hashanah.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Zamir&#8217;s comments came during a field tour in the Gaza Strip, accompanied by IDF Southern Command Chief Maj.-Gen. Yaniv Asor, Operations Directorate Chief Maj.-Gen. Itzik Cohen, Gaza Division Commander Brig.-Gen. You embody the deepest expression of Israeli solidarity and of commitment to the future of the state,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He also noted that the IDF will do everything to reduce the burden on reservists, noting that they are &#8220;a precious national resource.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Our main effort is enhancing the operation in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/gaza-city-evacuation-inevitable-idfs-140655570.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Gaza City;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Gaza City<\/a>.
