Its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces a staggering 650 horsepower \u2014 more than triple that of the street car \u2014 sending power through a rear-wheel-drive setup designed for maximum track performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Honda will replace its current Civic Type R-GT with the new Prelude when the 2026 season begins at Okayama International Circuit next April. The car\u2019s first shakedown already took place at Sportsland Sugo on October 1, signaling the start of an intensive testing phase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">\u201cWe believe the current Civic Type R-GT can still improve, but the Prelude platform gives us potential to achieve even greater performance,\u201d said Masahiro Saeki, HRC\u2019s Super GT project leader.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Honda hopes success on the racetrack will translate to renewed excitement for performance models on the road.
