{"id":54151,"date":"2025-11-13T22:05:21","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T03:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/world\/the-sky-was-on-fire-documentary-about-war-in-ukraine-produced-by-bucks-county-man\/13\/11\/2025\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T22:05:21","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T03:05:21","slug":"the-sky-was-on-fire-documentary-about-war-in-ukraine-produced-by-bucks-county-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newssprinters.com\/index.php\/world\/the-sky-was-on-fire-documentary-about-war-in-ukraine-produced-by-bucks-county-man\/13\/11\/2025\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;The Sky was on Fire&#8217; documentary about war in Ukraine produced by Bucks County man"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<div data-article-body=\"true\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A new documentary produced by a Bucks County businessman is giving us a never-before-seen look at the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The film exposes Russia&#8217;s attempts to erase Ukrainian culture through the eyes of ballerinas, who made a tough choice to pick up arms and fight for their freedom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a href=\"https:\/\/adrenalinefilms.com\/ukrainian-ballet-documentary-afp\/#main\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:&quot;The Sky was on Fire&quot;;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">&#8220;The Sky was on Fire&#8221; <\/a> gives a new perspective into the pain and heartbreak of Russia&#8217;s war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The film follows ballet dancers as they trade their pointe shoes for firearms to defend their nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The thing that most surprised me and stands out to me to this day was their resilience in the face of what seemed like unconquerable odds,&#8221; said the film&#8217;s executive producer Alfred Hagen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Bucks County businessman Alfred Hagen funded the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I understood from my visits that part of the Russian strategy was to eradicate Ukrainian culture,&#8221; said Hagen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Hagen has seen the carnage in Ukraine firsthand, having delivered medical supplies and volunteered on the front lines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">That&#8217;s where he met people like Oleh Tokar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Ballet is my inner armor against the destruction of our country,&#8221; said Tokar in his native language.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tokar is living a double life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He&#8217;s a stage director in Kyiv by day and a defense forces unit commander by night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The war in Ukraine isn&#8217;t just a war over land, it&#8217;s a war for our right to exist,&#8221; said Tokar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Speaking to Action News from Ukraine, he calls the war a cultural genocide against his nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;For me, ballet isn&#8217;t just a profession, it&#8217;s the language of my identity,&#8221; said Tokar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Russia has targeted historic cultural sights all across Ukraine: from schools, to churches and museums.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So artists went from theaters to the frontlines to defend their freedom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The film&#8217;s producers hope to make the documentary available on streaming in the near future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/sky-fire-documentary-war-ukraine-234137325.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new documentary produced by a Bucks County businessman is giving us a never-before-seen look at the war in Ukraine.
