Two council-owned car parks in Bradford are to be sold at auction as part of the authority’s efforts to balance its books and stave off bankruptcy.<\/p>\n
The land to be sold is on either side of Pine Street, in the Little Germany area of the city, and has been deemed surplus to requirements.<\/p>\n
The car parks are among more than 150 assets Bradford Council is disposing of in a bid to help balance its budget.<\/p>\n
The 0.2 acre area to the north of Pine Street will have a guide price of \u00a360,000, while the 0.36 acre car park to the south will have a guide price of \u00a3100,000.<\/p>\n
The two car parks, located between Shipley Airedale Road and Bolton Road, are included as lots in an online auction to be held next week.<\/p>\n
Last year, Bradford Council was granted “extraordinary financial support” by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to tackle its budget deficit.<\/p>\n
That allows it to dispose of assets it owns in order to fund its running costs.<\/p>\n
Other lots to be sold include a plot of council-owned land at Green Lane in Thornton and a fire-damaged terraced house on Rupert Street, Keighley.<\/p>\n
