Iron oxide is a key element in determining the reddish color of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/en\/space-news\/nasas-maven-mars-spacecraft-suddenly-loses-contact-with-earth\/1843112\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Mars;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Mars<\/a> and the rusting of metals on Earth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When rain mixes with iron oxide in the soil, the water runoff rushes into the ocean, turning the tide blood red.
