The public healthcare system in India’s most populous Uttar Pradesh state is strained with entrenched corruption, staff shortages, overcrowded hospitals and poor facilities, but there have not been any official reports of a patient falling out of a moving ambulance in December. A video of the supposed incident being shared online in posts criticising the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in fact AI-generated, its creator told AFP.<\/p>\n
“Imagine you are in Uttar Pradesh. Is this what the ideal kingdom should look like?” reads a Hindi-language X post sharing<\/a> the video on December 10, 2025.<\/p>\n The clip shows a patient on a stretcher apparently falling out of the open back door of a moving ambulance and rolling along on a highway.<\/p>\n Hindi-language text over the video reads: “The Yamuna Expressway: See how active the BJP government is in addressing the needs of patients. Look at the pace of development under the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.”<\/p>\n Screenshot of the false X post taken on December 15, 2025, with a red X added by AFP<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Multiple local news outlets have reported cases of entrenched corruption<\/a> and malpractice, as well as\u00a0inadequate healthcare facilities<\/a> in hospitals across the northern state (archived here<\/a> and\u00a0here<\/a>).<\/p>\n Prime Minister <\/span>Narendra Modi\u2019s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) says it plans to revamp <\/a>healthcare in Uttar Pradesh to improve disease control, maternal health and medical education (archived link<\/a>).<\/p>\n However, opposition Samajwadi Party chief and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has\u00a0accused<\/a> the BJP of “destroying” the state\u2019s healthcare system, citing neglect and mismanagement (archived link<\/a>).<\/p>\n The same video of a patient apparently falling out of an ambulance was also shared with similar claims on Facebook<\/a> and Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n Comments on the misleading posts indicate that some users believed the video showed a real incident.<\/p>\n One user wrote: “In Uttar Pradesh, only God can save the patient. Shame on the Uttar Pradesh government!”<\/p>\n “The life of the common man has no value; corruption has ruined this state”, wrote another.<\/p>\n However, there are no credible reports of such an incident taking place on the 165.5-kilometre-long (102 miles) Yamuna Expressway.<\/p>\n A reverse image search<\/a> using keyframes from the clip led to the same video<\/a> on a Facebook page called “Bargachhi Krishi Farm” on December 8 (archived link<\/a>).<\/p>\n Its caption includes a series of hashtags about agriculture and farming, but does not mention Uttar Pradesh or the Yamuna Expressway.<\/p>\n The page’s owner, Hemsagar Bhattarai told AFP on December 15 he had created the video using an AI tool to increase engagement on his social media accounts.<\/p>\n The Nepali labourer working in Doha said he runs the page for “extra income and entertainment”, downloading and stealing content from Chinese social media platforms to upload to his own accounts.<\/p>\n “This was the first time I used ChatGPT and Sora AI to create a video, and it went viral,” Bhattarai said.<\/p>\n A close analysis of the video shows it contains\u00a0visual inconsistencies<\/a>, a hallmark of AI-generated content. <\/p>\n The patient’s oxygen mask does not appear to be connected to a tank and does not get pulled away when the stretcher falls out of the ambulance.<\/p>\n The ambulance is also missing a door. Unusually shaped vehicles are seen on the opposite side of the road, while some of the cars appear randomly as the video plays.<\/p>\nEngagement bait<\/h2>\n
