RICHMOND, British Columbia – The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team of investigators to the scene of a Tuesday night derailment near Vanderhoof, B.C., the agency said today<\/a> (Jan. 28).<\/p>\n The Prince George Citizen<\/em> reports<\/a> 34 cars of a loaded Canadian National coal train derailed about 10 p.m. Tuesday at Mile 56 on CN’s Nechako Subdivision east of Vanderhoof. The derailment site is near the Nechako River. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n CN said in a statement to the newspaper that its crews had responded to the incident. “Environmental experts are engaged with provincial and federal regulators about the incident,” the railroad said. “The company is also working with local municipalities and First Nation communities to coordinate and plan remediation efforts for the river.”<\/p>\n Vanderhoof is approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) west of Prince George on CN’s line to Prince Rupert, B.C.<\/p>\n – To report news or errors, contact trainsnewswire@firecrown.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
