Scottie Scheffler withdrew from the Houston Open on Tuesday with his wife\u00a0Meredith due to give birth to their second child.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The world No 1 has been runner-up at the Houston Open three times, including the last two years when he made it his final stop before going to the Masters.<\/p>\n

He will be replaced in the field by Matt Kuchar at Memorial Park.<\/p>\n

Scheffler’s wife gave birth to a son they named Bennett on May 8, 2024, one week before the PGA Championship.<\/p>\n

Scottie Scheffler produced an extraordinary start to his final round at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, with two eagles and three birdies in the first six holes. <\/span>
\n <\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Scheffler, who won the PGA Championship and The Open last year, began 2026 with a victory in The American Express. His streak of 18 consecutive finishes in the top 10 – which started at the Houston Open last year – ended at the Genesis Invitational with a tie for 12th.<\/p>\n

His last tournament was a tie for 22nd in The Players Championship.<\/p>\n

Scheffler is gearing up to compete for a third Green Jacket in The Masters at Augusta National two weeks from now, with Rory McIlroy returning as defending champion.<\/p>\n

McIlroy famously ended his long wait for Masters glory last year when he held off Justin Rose in a dramatic playoff to complete the career Grand Slam.<\/p>\n
