The U.K. police unit has a team based at Bristol Airport at all times, the airport\u2019s website<\/a> states.<\/p>\nStephen Blofield, 61, pleaded guilty to a number of charges in February, including being intoxicated during the flight, police said. In addition to intoxication, Blofield was charged with \u201cbehaving in a threatening, abusive, insulting, disorderly manner towards a member of aircraft crew,\u201d as well as \u201cabusive words or behavior likely to cause harassment, alarm and distress,” police said.<\/p>\n
In a statement shared in the release, Bristol Airport policing team inspector Christian Gresswell said the man\u2019s actions forced the plane\u2019s initial landing to be aborted as he \u201ccontinued to be verbally abusive towards cabin crew\u201d and refused to sit down and fasten his seatbelt.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was met by officers at Bristol Airport once the flight had safely landed,\u201d Gresswell added.<\/p>\n
The man was also charged with \u201cfailing to obey lawful commands of a pilot.\u201d<\/p>\n
