Recent reports have highlighted incidents in Halifax of young people riding on the outside of buses, sometimes even climbing through emergency exits to sit on the roof while the vehicle is in motion. The behavior, often filmed and shared online, has raised alarm among transit officials.<\/p>\n
Authorities say the risks extend far beyond the person attempting the stunt. Riding on a moving bus can endanger passengers inside, drivers navigating traffic and others on the road.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo amount of \u2018likes\u2019 is worth your life,\u201d officials said in a statement<\/a>, urging teens to think twice before participating.<\/p>\n According to transit representatives, multiple incidents have already been reported. The concern is not only the danger itself, but how quickly the behavior can spread through social media.<\/p>\n \u201cInvolving young people riding on buses, climbing on buses while they\u2019re moving\u2026 (it\u2019s an) obviously dangerous decision,\u201d spokesperson Brynn Budden said.<\/p>\n The consequences, they added, can be serious.
