May 7 (Reuters) – China’s Tsingshan Holding Group has applied for aluminium from its \u200cHua Chin smelting joint venture \u200cin Indonesia to be deliverable on the London Metal \u200bExchange, a notice from the bourse showed on Thursday.<\/p>\n
If accepted, Hua Chin, where Tsingshan is partnered by fellow Chinese firm Huafon \u200cGroup, would become \u2060only the second Indonesian high-grade primary aluminium brand to be accepted \u2060by the LME after that of state-owned Inalum.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The application comes as Indonesia \u200bramps up \u200bproduction and exports \u200bof aluminium, potentially offsetting \u200cshortages caused by the war in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The second phase of Hua Chin, located on the island of Sulawesi, started up this year; the project \u200chas annual capacity of \u200b480,000 metric tons of aluminium \u200bingots, according \u200bto the LME notice.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Tsingshan \u200cis best known as \u200bthe world’s \u200bbiggest nickel producer; nickel cathodes produced by its Indonesian affiliate PT Eternal Nickel \u200bIndustry are \u200cdeliverable against the LME’s nickel contract.<\/p>\n
