Italy’s current account surplus increased in April from the previous year, the Bank of Italy reported on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The current account surplus rose to \u20ac2.3 billion ($2.64 billion) in April from \u20ac1.1 billion in the corresponding month last year.<\/p>\n
The goods trade surplus climbed to \u20ac5 billion from \u20ac3.3 billion. At the same time, the shortfall in services trade widened to \u20ac541 million from \u20ac186 million.<\/p>\n
The primary income balance showed a deficit of \u20ac13 billion, up from \u20ac0.9 billion. The secondary income shortfall was \u20ac0.94 billion versus \u20ac1.1 billion last year.<\/p>\n
Data showed that the capital account balance remained balanced compared with a deficit of \u20ac10 million a year earlier. The surplus in the financial account grew notably from \u20ac0.4 billion to \u20ac11.2 billion.<\/p>\n
In the twelve months ending in April 2026, the current account recorded a surplus of \u20ac32.9 billion, equivalent to 1.4% of GDP, compared to \u20ac18 billion in the same period of the previous year.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
