Ukraine’s military has once again launched drone attacks deep into Russian territory, targeting the country’s oil industry.<\/p>\n
Fires broke out at the refineries in Saratov on the Volga and in Nizhnekamsk in Tatarstan, according to reports posted on Ukrainian and Russian Telegram channels on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
In Saratov, just under 800 kilometres from Ukraine, one man was killed, according to Governor Roman Busargin. He said only civilian infrastructure had been damaged in the attack.<\/p>\n
Nizhnekamsk lies around 1,200 kilometres from Ukrainian territory.<\/p>\n
A fire was also reported at a military airfield in the Voronezh region, south of Moscow.<\/p>\n
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the strikes on the two refineries, adding that the military also targeted sites in Russia’s Voronezh and Bashkortostan regions, though he did not specify the exact targets.<\/p>\n
The Defence Ministry in Moscow reported that, by Wednesday morning, 415 enemy drones had been intercepted over Russian territory.<\/p>\n
Such figures cannot be independently verified, but they suggest a major attack.<\/p>\n
Ukraine has been defending itself against a large-scale Russian invasion for more than four years. Its counterattacks on the Russian oil industry have already caused a fuel crisis in many regions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
